The Brooding Whopping Cranes touched down earlier this morning in sunny Calgary. After a few brief hours of sleep, they were thrown into the hectic but exciting Wynchemna rhythm! We started the morning off with a hearty Canadian breakfast of bacon, eggs, chocolate milk, waffles, and of course, the quintessential Canadian maple syrup. After breakfast, the morning consisted of the placement exam and a delicious teriyaki lunch. The afternoon was packed full of new and exciting activities. The Cranes headed off to their first canoeing adventure at the Glenmore Reservoir. It was a beautiful and calm day for some family canoeing. We learned how to hold a paddle, the different strokes, and how to get into a canoe safely. For many students and parents, it was their first time canoeing! Everybody worked together to have fun and helped lift the canoes back to the dock. After canoeing, the Cranes played baseball! We learned how to throw and catch the ball properly. We played a couple of games and got some stellar home-runs! Soon after we finished baseball, the Cranes went on the bus to go to the Soccer Centre. For many students, soccer is their favourite sport so they were excited to play on such a nice indoor field. We had some matches and practiced dribbling the ball. We also watched a little bit of an indoor adult league game while waiting to go to dinner. We finished off our day eating delicious Vietnamese food and talking about all the fun activities we did![AFG_gallery id='493']
