Brooding Whooping Cranes - Drumheller!! - Aug 2, 2016
What a serendipitous day! We arose bright eyed and bushy tailed for breakfast at 8:30. After having finished some delicious waffles with real maple syrup and fresh fruit we began lessons. Some of the students wrote, directed, and performed their own skits about Wynchemna while other students learned about synonyms and how to write a blog. Then, we ate lunch promptly at 11:30 so we could leave for our day trip to Drumheller. We toured scenic Horseshoe Canyon and took pictures of the steep hoodoos. What a hike! Luckily upon finishing our hike the bus driver had already prepared juicy watermelon for us to snack on! Mmm... Then we traveled into town to an art studio and created our very own mosaics of various Canadian animals and dinosaurs. Once we finished our creations, it was supper time! We barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers and prepared lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, goacamole and condiments to pile on top. We all got very full but not so full that we couldn't play a little volleyball and soccer after supper. Then we headed over to the Royal Tyrell Museum - one of the largest dinosaur museums in the world! We learned about various creatures that used to roam Alberta millions of years ago and saw the huge dinosaur displays like the T-Rex and the Triceratops. With our brains full of knowledge it was time to head home on the bus and go to sleep so that we would be ready to go camping tomorrow! Yeeeehaaaa![AFG_gallery id='528']
