Well, today was a change of pace; day without a thunderstorm! It would have been a nice enough day for a canoe trip, but we had other plans.  We were split into two groups today and after our classes, each group boarded a bus and went to their respective activities.  One group went rock climbing; well we trained for rock climbing in a cool rock climbing gym called Stronghold.  The place is huge!  Almost none of our group members had been climbing before, so the gym staff gave us all the training we needed to begin.  They showed us how to put on harnesses, belay and how best to act if there might be an accident.  We partnered up and as duos took turns climbing, one partner acting as the belayer while the other climbed and then switching.  It was challenging, but we got the hang of it soon enough.  Some students took to the sport as if they were Spiderman.  While one group was at the climbing gym, the other group was at a golf driving range, smashing golfballs into the green beyond.  First Marc showed us which grip and stance was best, then we took turns hitting a few balls.  Golfing is not as easy as it looks on the TV. After dinner we returned to SAIT and took part in a workshop about improv acting.  It was pretty fun.  The two workshop leaders were local improv comedians and they would explain situations to us and then have volunteers (us) go up and try to act out the situations.  Sure most of us were shy at first but we started to really get into it, and the final situation was hilarious and involved every person in the group.  It was a really great way to try to use our English and to share a laugh with our friends.  After the improv, reality checked in as we all did our laundry.  But at Wynchemna, even doing laundry is fun! [AFG_gallery id='72']
