Chuckling Bison - July 20, 2015 - Integrating New Students & Exploring Downtown Calgary in The Amazing Race!

We had another batch of new students come in yesterday, so we integrated them into our breakfast groups and lessons today. It all went swimmingly, and we're happy to have them all. The more, the merrier! The students discussed reality TV shows, introduced their hometowns, and reviewed the proper grammar for asking and answering questions to get to know each other. Lots of variety in their education to keep things interesting!

Lunch was at SAIT with a tonne of choice - I myself was more than pleased! - and then we all got ready for our big night event. Laced up our sneakers, put on sunscreen, filled our water bottles, then we kicked off the Calgary Amazing Race! In our breakfast groups, we explored downtown Calgary - seeking out famous landmarks, interacting with Canadians, and really honing our teamwork. So much fun out in the sun, learning about our new city, practicing English with strangers, and getting some fresh air. Amazing, and exhausting.
For dinner, we ate at The Old Spaghetti Factory, a Canadian favourite. Everyone was thankful to be able to sit for a while after so much walking around the city - and the food was scrumptious. Bread with garlic butter, a salad, spaghetti (naturally), coffee, AND ice cream for dessert. Phenomenal eats, and we all enjoyed chatting with each other, talking about how the scavenger hunt went for the other groups.
Then we strolled back to our residence and had our nightly floor meeting. The teachers decided to give Student of the Day to Ivy - one of our new students - for being so comfortable and friendly already, and for the leadership she showed during The Amazing Race. Congratulations!
