Howling Wolves - 6 July 2015 - Energetic Eels
Hello Wynchemnites!! I can’t believe how much energy the students’ had today even so many activities, late nights and early mornings! This morning the herd headed off to the Stampede breakfast to engage in a Calgary wide community event for the Stampede. Volunteers served up pancakes and sausages and entertained us all with their sweet country tunes. The students really enjoyed hearing this western music, unique to Alberta! There were also traditional dances performed by Indigenous members of the community, and a fun-filled performance by a local youth marching band! It felt good to be a part of this community event where the students could interact with some other real Calgarians! Talk about an eventful morning! After lunch, we hustled on to more activities! The students went rock climbing today and learned how to help each other climb and harness. In the beach volleyball courts today the students dove, cheered, and rallied! Tina got some great passes, Laurie did some passing drill practice and Jolin impressively improved her serves! By the end of the day we were all covered in sand! For dinner today we picnicked in the park, making the most of the beautiful evening and getting out the last of our energies before a good night’s sleep. Carlos went biking around chasing students to catch any who were might be speaking other languages! On our way home from the park it started pouring rain and we all ran back to the residence as fast as we could after enjoying the picturesque view of the Calgary skyline. We ended the night with a celebration for Rina’s birthday; chocolate cake for everyone.[AFG_gallery id='249']
