Marmots August 3, 2018 - Golf and Paperclip Game
Holy smokes! What a wildly-fun day here at Wynchemna! Our campers got to sleep in a little bit this morning because of the crazy day yesterday, so they were fully-energized by the time breakfast rolled around. After another vintage Wynchemna breakfast of fruit, waffles, eggs, bagels, toast and cereal the students headed to their lessons and a guest teacher, Wesley, taught the Marmots some interesting and though-provoking lessons. The lessons were so cool that the Marmots talked about them all day long and can’t wait for Welsey to come back and teach again. After another great lunch from Megan, our amazing cook, the Marmots went to Calgary’s Confederation Golf for a great golf lesson from our resident golf expert, Dylan! The Marmots were taught how to use a driver and an iron, and got a chance to hone their newly-learned skill. After some practice, the Marmots took part in the Wynchemna Invitational Golf Competition, where they battled it out to see who could drive and chip the ball the farthest. Michael won both the driver and iron categories, with Sara coming in a close second, but because Michael is so selfless, he shared his winning prizes with the rest of the Marmots. After golf, the Marmots took on a residential neighbourhood of Calgary to play the paperclip game; a game in which they have to exchange a paperclip for household items, gifts and trinkets, attempting to obtain better things each time. Our Marmots received everything from a giant teddy bear to a hunting knife, protein bars and even exotic gifts from abroad – it was such a blast and the students had a chance to work on their oral English skills with everyday Calgarians. The Marmots were so exhausted after the walk back to SAIT that they went right to sleep in order to prep for the crazy-awesome day that will ensue tomorrow! Check back in again tomorrow to see how the Marmots faired in tent game festivities.[AFG_gallery id='838']
