Soaring Horned Owls - July 28th - Hockey, Basketball, Shopping for Supper
Our first full day at Wynchemna has been nothing less than amazing! We started our day by joining our new friends in our breakfast groups. Some of us have breakfast with Teacher Arron and others have breakfast with teacher Sam. We learned all about cooking a traditional Canadian breakfast that consists of eggs, bacon, waffles, fruits, yogurt, toast, bagels and more! Our bellies were so full at the end of breakfast and we cleaned up together, all the while getting to know our new friends. After breakfast we headed to the bus for a day full of fun in the sun! Teachers Dylan and Wes joined us today for sports. We learned new skills and tricks playing basketball and even took on Teacher Wes who used to play for his University team! He taught us how to play like professionals! After skills and drills, we played a fun game of basketball teaming up with our new classmates and facing off against others. After a water and snack break we jumped right back in to try our best at ball hockey! For a lot of us, it was our first time trying hockey and we loved it! We learned how to stick handle and how to pass correctly. We then tested our how well we could score before playing our first real game of Hockey while in Canada.Lunch time approached and we walked to the mall to eat a yummy dinner of rice, noodles, vegetables, meats and chicken. After lunch we went shopping for dinner food! The girls decided to make tacos and the boys agreed upon pasta. We cooked together in our apartments and everyone helped out, chopping vegetables, cooking the noodles, cooking the meat and preparing the table. Everyone got ice cream for dessert and we shared our second desserts of watermelon and marshmallow squares! So many yummy treats! We came back to the residence and went for our placement exams. We did a written test and each had an interview with our teachers before completing the exam. It was really easy, we thought it was silly we were ever worried at all! After the exam we got into three groups and started discussing possible ideas for our new Wynchemna movie we will be filming in IKEA. Did you know they have stations set up everywhere that look like real rooms in houses? The perfect set for our new movie! We can't wait to show you what we are working on!We finished off this night by playing board games in our common room with our new friends, laughing and joking with our classmates and feeling at home already! Today was jam-packed with fun and we can't wait for what's in store for tomorrow.[AFG_gallery id='811']
