The Chinook Winds - July 15 - 2013 - Squash, Cooking and Card Games

After the excitement and business of the Calgary Stampede, a slower day closer to home was in order for our group of tired Chinook Winds.  After our lessons, we had a quiet lunch in the cafeteria followed by an hour of free time which the group used to check e-mails and update Facebook, play songs and videos for one another and generally relax and talk.  In the afternoon, we all played squash here on the SAIT campus; the athletic facilities really have almost everything anybody remotely athletic could want!  For some of us, it was the first time ever playing, and you really need to smack the ball to get that bounce!  Others in the group had played before, and an exciting match-up between Roberto representing Spain and Cedric representing Germany grabbed the attention of the group.  Both were so quick and powerful!  In the end, Cedric squeaked out a victory.[AFG_gallery id='50']After our time in the squash courts, we returned to our apartments and got cleaned up.  We were all going to get together to make pizza.  There was a sort of gentle amazement at just what some people topped their pizza with, the merits of weather tuna or chicken made the better topping was discussed, and in the end we all had just what we wanted.  And what goes better with a pizza than a poker game!?  We even had real chips!  Some of us had played before, others were in their first game.  Tania from Spain had never played, but you’d never have known it from the hands that she was winning.  Sure we weren’t playing for money, but it was still great fun!
