Whispering Northern Raccoons - August 1st, 2017 - Lights, Cameras, Action!

Today was filming day! But I'm getting ahead of myself, that's not all we did. We of course started our day bright and early with some breakfast. It was wonderful to start our day with a great meal and with some great friends. You all know what comes next, lessons! Lots of learning is done here at Wynchemna, but we make sure to mix in some fun. Our students acted out different scenarios using idioms with each other. We only asked for two but the groups managed to find ways to use up to four! It was great to see how creative they could all be, plus practicing all their acting skills before our big movie today was very important.We ate a quick lunch before having our final dress rehearsal and heading out to IKEA. Everyone's eyes were wide as we walked through IKEA, scouting out the perfect location for filming different scenes. It had to be perfect! We looked at over 5 bedrooms before we found one that really suited the character to perfection. It was a big decision and we all rose to the occasion. Some of our scenes even had an audience, people shopping stopped by to see our performance and gave a big round of applause after we finished our scenes! Every area we went to we found the perfect props to use in our story, it made the filming that much more fun and thrilling. After we were done filming the students weren't done with all IKEA had to offer. They explored the store testing out different couches and their favourite stuffed objects (I think the giant pencil won). We then enjoyed a delicious IKEA dinner, everyone raved about the meatballs.Filming couldn't be our only adventure of the day though, we all loaded onto the bus and headed out to the movies together. We had four options but they all wanted to stick together for the same movie! So we all piled into the theatre and enjoyed a great comedy together.
