A Global Feast and Karaoke Night: A Day of Fun and Flavor
Our camp day began at a leisurely pace, with breakfast served at 9:30 AM. The comforting aromas of bacon, eggs, cereal, and Eggo waffles filled the air, setting a delightful tone for the day ahead.
Our first activity involved a series of engaging lessons on storytelling, poetry, and an imaginative exercise where students created their own countries. The room buzzed with creativity as students crafted narratives, penned verses, and developed detailed worlds complete with unique cultures, languages, and histories. These sessions not only honed their writing skills but also encouraged them to think outside the box and express themselves in innovative ways.
By lunchtime, our appetites were ready for a treat. We headed to North Hill Mall, where we indulged in a variety of Italian delights, including pizza, pasta, and fresh salads. The food court offered a range of options that satisfied every palate, and we enjoyed our meal together, sharing laughs and stories from the morning's activities.
After lunch, we embarked on a special mission: shopping for groceries for our international supper. Each student group represented a different country, and they were tasked with preparing a traditional dish. The excitement was palpable as we roamed the aisles, selecting ingredients for our culinary creations.
The Taiwanese group took charge of making delicious fried rice, showcasing their skill in blending flavors and textures. The Spanish group prepared a classic tortilla de patatas, a savory potato and egg dish that was both hearty and comforting. The Czech group impressed us with their dumplings filled with smoked meat, a true testament to their culinary heritage. The Italian group delighted everyone with their sweet and creamy tiramisu, and the French group wowed us with their delicate and perfectly cooked crepes.
As evening approached, the dining area transformed into a global feast. We savored each dish, appreciating the effort and love that went into every bite. It was a beautiful experience, bringing us closer as we shared not only food but also stories and traditions from around the world.
The day concluded with a spirited karaoke night. We sang our hearts out, belting out classics and current hits, cheering each other on, and laughing at our attempts to hit those high notes. The energy was infectious, and the camaraderie was undeniable. By the end of the night, we felt like one big family, united by music and shared experiences.
This camp day was a perfect blend of creativity, culture, and fun. From the imaginative lessons to the international supper and the joyous karaoke session, it was a day to remember and cherish
