Camping Champs and Jolly Jams: A Day of Fun and Teamwork Plans
Today was another incredible day at camp, filled with learning, creativity, and fun. The morning began with a delicious breakfast, setting a positive and energetic tone for the day ahead. The breakfast rooms were alive with chatter and laughter as the students fuelled up for the exciting activities in store.
Our first lesson of the day was "Paperclip Prepositions." This interactive activity had us placing paperclips in various spots around the classroom and describing their locations using prepositions. It was a fun and engaging way to practice our English skills, and we all enjoyed coming up with creative and amusing locations for the paperclips. Next, we shifted gears to explore the basic elements of music. We learned about different instruments, artists, and songs through a lively game where we had to identify each one based on audio clips. The classroom was filled with music and excitement as we guessed and discussed our favourite tunes. Our second lesson brought out our inner comedians as we created memes featuring ourselves, our teachers, and our classrooms. This activity was a hit, with everyone bursting into laughter as we shared our creations. The memes captured the essence of camp life with a humorous twist, and the room buzzed with sheer delight. The final lesson ended with some dramatic arts, with a practice in improve and acting. After a morning of learning and laughter, it was time for lunch. We had a delicious spread to choose from, including chicken teriyaki, cream of mushroom soup, scalloped potatoes and a lovely vegetable medley. The variety of dishes catered to all tastes, and we enjoyed our meals while chatting about the morning's fun activities.
The afternoon was dedicated to our much-anticipated tent and camping games. We started with a general meeting where we learned about the itinerary and divided into tent groups. Each group chose a mascot, drew it, and created a corresponding poster. Our tent mascots were Puffins, Snapping Turtles, Wolverines, Belugas, Walruses, Monarch Butterflies and Rainbow Trout. We also composed a song for our tent mascot, which added to the team spirit. With our mascots ready, we moved on to designing T-shirts. Each group ironed their drawn designs onto the shirts, creating unique team uniforms. The creativity and teamwork displayed during this activity were impressive, and we proudly wore our T-shirts for the rest of the day. Next, we headed to the "Camping Corner" to practice assembling our sleeping bags, foams, and liners. This preparation was essential for the camping experience and taught us valuable skills. We worked together, helping each other and ensuring everything was ready for the night ahead. With our sleeping bag gear assembled, we made our way to the backfield for the games. Each tent group presented their song, choreography, and poster of their mascot. The field echoed with laughter and cheers as we showcased our creativity and team spirit. After the presentations, we enjoyed a delicious supper of chicken wings, pizza, salad, crostinis, fruits, and apple juice. The meal was a delightful break before the evening's exciting activities.
Next, the students rotated between different stations, including a balloon and water bowl race, oreo relay and baseball bat dash. Each game was met with enthusiasm and competitive spirit, and the laughter and cheers never ceased. The final event of the evening was the water balloon game. We ran around, dodging and throwing water balloons, and the field was soon filled with splashes and giggles. It was the perfect way to end a day of camaraderie and teamwork!
As the day came to an end, we gathered to reflect on the day's events. Despite being a little wet from the water balloon game, everyone was happy and content from the day’s activities and newly acquired camping skills, bringing us closer together, and eagerly anticipating our camping trip. We can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store at Wynchemna!
