The Great Calgary Race!

Today was an exhilarating day packed with learning, exploration, and plenty of excitement as our campers jumped into the Great Calgary Race and prepared for the upcoming talent show.

We started our morning off strong with some breakfast and went ahead right into lessons. We practiced vocabulary through acting and word association, team-building exercises, and analyzed the Amazing Race Canada. Discussing our future race, students have grown confident in their communication abilities and share strategies for the upcoming adventure. Students consumed their lunch, which was provided at SAIT’s kitchen. Many great options! Some food to highlight would be the ginger chicken and margarita pizzas.

Today’s highlight was the exploration of Downtown Calgary. Students were prompted to perform tasks and venture to locations scattered throughout the bustling city. Campers engaged with locals and found ways to navigate and interact with Calgary. This was also impressive considering the lack of phones! Students took their maps and raced off towards various hotspots. Campers discovered Calgary’s charms and explored so much of what Calgary can offer: Chinatown, Armories, skateparks, tourist attractions, and the iconic Calgary tower. Students had fun in their photos too, showcasing their teamwork and eye for capturing Calgary’s beauty.

Following the race, we concluded this adventure at Rajdoot: an Indian restaurant. Famished from running around all day, kids inhaled curry, fruits, and butter chicken. Next, we took the LRT back to campus to get some more practice in to our talent show. We had an awesome day and can’t wait to have our next adventure tomorrow!
