Bellowing Buffalo - August 2 2014

Today we played the Paper Clip Game. Started by a Canadian blogger, the Paper Clip game helps the students learn how to barter and trade. Each team began with a paper clip and knocked on Calgarians’ doors, asking them for a trade. Here is how team Blue, made up of Lionel, Sandi, Ivy, and Niklas, did:

  1. They began with a blue paperclip and traded for leopard print Post-its.
  2. They traded the Post-its for a can of soup.
  3. They traded the soup for five dollars.
  4. Five dollars got them matching mugs and a saucer.
  5. The saucer got them a Belgish beer glass.
  6. The Belgish beer glass got them a huge Canadian beer mug.
  7. The beer mug got them 20 dollars.
  8. One of the mugs got them a baseball glove.
  9. The last mug got them a stuffed Bellowing Buffalo from Yellowstone Park.

I would say they did pretty well, ending with a baseball glove, 20 dollars, and a bellowing buffalo. In the evening, to celebrate our bartering and trading, we went to the Loose Moose Theatre to laugh out loud at their Improvisational theatrics. It was so funny! Though, it then became so difficult to get the students to bed after they were laughing so hard.[AFG_gallery id='206']
