After a late breakfast and some quick morning classes we headed out to Drumheller today. A short ride out from Calgary by bus, we explored Horsheshoe Canyon on foot. The peaks were treacherous but everyone had a good time climbing through the canyons rocky outcroppings. After exploring the crags we ate a quick snack and headed out to the Royal Tyrell Museum. The museum was amazing, showing off the skeletal remains of dozens of different species that used to roam the area millions of years ago. It is always amazing to see those ancient giants and imagine them roaming the lands were we now live. The students enjoyed the sights and also enjoyed their repeated encounters with a curious prairie dog once outside the museum. Between the terrible lizards inside and the small furry creature outside, the students enjoyed a taste of Drumheller’s distant past alongside its present. The day ended with a trip to the local swimming pool and some burgers and hotdogs on the grill, all under the watchful eye of a towering tyrannosaur. A great day was had by all and the students came home to a well deserved rest.  [AFG_gallery id='81']
