Piping Woodpeckers - July 19, 2014 - Arrivals!

Today was a busy day at Wynchemna. After lessons, those of us who arrived last week walked into Calgary's downtown core for some lunch and shopping. We walked through a beautiful Calgary neighbourhood, but our teacher Shaun seems to make us walk too far and too fast; it is difficult to keep up with him! This was the first time we have had time in a shopping centre here in Calgary, so we all had a good time (and most of us made purchase too). Those of us who went into town were also extra excited because today saw the arrival of ten new students from around the world who will be joining our group. Andy and Gina from Taiwan arrived early enough to accompany us into town and get to know the group and the city at the same time. When we returned from town to SAIT, there were a group of new friends waiting for us. Introductions were made and questions were asked and we were all happy to welcome Fanny and Clementine from France, Chinatsu and Yuri from Japan, Anna from Germany, Vojtech groom the Czech Republic and two (relatively) local girls in Brynn from Canada and Emily from the US who came to Calgary to take French lessons, but who will be joining us for certain activities here in Alberta. We all shared a light dinner and played a game that required us to talk to as many of our fellow students as possible, asking questions and sharing facts about who we are and our past. It was a great way to get to know each other quickly. Who would have guessed that teacher Gesthika knows how to ride a unicycle or that Zuzana has been to Egypt before?! After dinner, we played games with our new friends before ending a busy day and heading to bed.[AFG_gallery id='173']
