Well! What a time we had spending five days camping out in the Lower Lakes Kananaskis.July 16 - We arrived in the evening and set up camp, laying a few ground rules to ensure safety and maximum fun. We then started cooking dinner and talked about the exciting days ahead.July 17 - We woke up early with nature and had delicious french toast for breakfast, after we had eaten and cleaned up we packed our backpacks with our things and drove to Upper Lakes in Kananaskis and went on a beautiful two hour hike to a lake that was cocooned by mountains. We were surround by nature the whole time, where we came across small streams of water and the wildlife that resides in the Canadian Woods. Once we reached the lake we had lunch and then took a dip into the Lake! This was lots of fun and laughs and is something that we will all remember when we think back on Wynchemna. When we got back to the campsite, we prepared dinner and then as it got dark we made a campfire and made S'mores (fire cooked marshmallow, and milk chocolate inside two honey graham crackers!) . After one of the teachers put on a fire show for us which was the perfect thing to end the night.July 18 - After a simple breakfast of english muffins, we packed up and made our way to Banff and enjoyed what the tourist hub had to offer us. We had tasty lunch of hotdogs and then our group split into two. Half of us went shopping in Banff purchasing interests such as Maple Tea followed by the relaxing hot springs not far from the heat of the hub. The rest of us continued another hour up to Lake Louise, a very important landmark in Canada. There we went on a horseback tour around the lake and learned fun facts about the lake. After all of this excitement, we made our way back to camp and had dinner, followed by bananas in a boat (mini marshmallows and chocolate on top of a banana, which is then covered in foil and put into the glowing embers of a campfire, after a few minutes, we remove the banana from the fire leave it to cool for a few minutes and then enjoy the melody of marshmallow, chocolate and banana!). After singing some songs we went to bed.July 19 - After a hearty breakfast of sausages and eggs we geared up for mountain biking. we went on a cool trail that led us to a lake. we had a nice swim and then made our way back to camp. We also played sports around the camp and explored the campsite close to base, discovering a stream that was nearby. For lunch we had noodles, cheese, crackers and salmon. After a while relaxing around the campsite, we cooked, ate and enjoyed our dinner and then spent the rest of the evening relaxing around the campfire cooking marshmallows. We also said goodbye to the Road Trip students who are currently making their way to Vancouver. There were lots of hugs, and photos and laughs. We sorely miss the students that left us and hope to see them again soon. We also packed up our camp things in preparation for the next day.July 20 - Today we said goodbye to Kananaskis Lower Lakes. After a late wake up and cereal we packed up the truck and put ourselves on the bus and drove back to SAIT residence in Calgary. We had dinner in our new breakfast groups and also did laundry! Afterwards we relaxed, appreciating our creature comforts (such as WiFi!!) and then went off to bed.Tomorrow we look forward to the West Edmonton Mall which has a water park, an amusement park, a skating rink, restaurants and tons of stores all under one roof. [AFG_gallery id='174']
