Piping Woodpeckers - July 25, 2014
Busy Friday at Wynchemna with some of us early birds going to the fitness centre this morning to break out a sweat before breakfast. Many of us also did much-needed laundry which put off our lessons to a little later than usual. The three lessons were still engaging - creating our own unique societies, playing with onomatopoeia (words of sounds), and continuing on our brochures of the Canadian provinces. For our French-learners we worked on our French grammar and story-telling!The students were super happy with the Happy Hut lunch today with rice, salmon, broccoli, curry, and a selection of fruits and dessert! A great nutritious meal before our packed afternoon. We started with golfing at a driving range where many of us swung a golf club for the first time. We were taught the basics by our very own Wynchemna coaches, Roland and Dustin. Then, we had a tournament to see who can hit the ball the furthest. On the women’s side we had Zuzana from the Czech Republic take the first place standing with 110m and Gary from Taiwan led the men with an equivalent distance. After a great time at the driving range we made our way to the Stronghold Climbing Place in downtown Calgary to continue our climbing adventure from two days ago. Today the instructors taught us how to attach the belay device to the rope. Once we had mastered this skill we climbed! We challenged ourselves by climbing some harder walls which went really well. For dinner we went to Swiss Chalet and ate a Thai curry remix with rice and fries. It went down wonderfully leading to happy smiles and laughs after. We were ready for Loose Moose. Loose Moose was amazing. It is an interactive improv show that lets the audience decide whether the actors acted out a good scene or not. All of the scenes created were very funny, and we snacked on Twizzlers and chocolate as we laughed.Once we returned to SAIT we discussed what we wanted to cook for the International Supper on Sunday. We went to bed looking forward to Drumheller tomorrow.[AFG_gallery id='184']
