Pouncing Forest Lynxes - July 7th, 2018
Today we visited one of our favourite Alberta destinations- the town of DRUMHELLER!We started off our day cooking a filling breakfast with our new friends and teachers and then we headed off for 3 lessons where we tackled everything from correct use of prepositions and all about Drumheller. Did you know that canyons are called coulees and hoodoos are characteristic of the badlands. We just love learning new things and getting active in our lessons! After our fun filled classes we headed down for lunch where our teachers served us a delicious lunch of chicken, beef, rice and noodles. Of course we had dessert too! After lunch we packed up all our belongings and headed off on the bus to our day of dinosaurs! Our teachers were crazy as always, dancing and singing on the bus. We joined them and made up hand movements to go alone with the songs. Our bus rides are always fun!We got to horseshoe canyon and were amazed by the view! We couldn’t believe we were going to hike through. Our teachers told us that dinosaurs used to live here and that if we looked hard we might find fossils! We took off for an hour long hike headed by our teacher Jaffra who grew up in Drumheller! We ran up tall coolies and slid down them, explored through to find cool rock formations and were amazed that we even saw cacti growing! It was amazing that the canyon was both very wet and muddy in some places and dry in others! We were tired and hot after our hike but quickly bounced back with a slice of watermelon! We took pictures with our new friends and a large group picture in front of the view and then headed off to the Royal Tyrell Museum to check out the dinosaur exhibits. We were fascinated to find out that most of the dinosaurs in the museum had come from right here in Alberta! Even from Calgary where we are living! After visiting the museum we drove to the splash park for a BBQ. We ran around in the sprinklers, some of us played soccer and football and others helped cook. We ate hamburgers, chicken burgers, hotdogs and veggie burgers. We also had salad, fruits and meat and crackers! We went back to playing sports and hanging out with our friends and then had a wonderful surprise! Today is Paula’s birthday and we sang to her in each of our languages and English and she received a dinosaur as a birthday present! We ate copious amounts of ice cream cake before climbing back onboard to head back to Calgary. What a beautiful sunset we saw on the way home! We got back and headed straight to bed, tired from our great adventures today and ready to take on tomorrow! [AFG_gallery id='761']
