Singing Water Loons - 23 July 2017 - The Trading Water Loons

Today the loons learned just how generous and playful Canadians are. No, not only in our scheduled lessons, but in an activity Calgarians love: the Paper Clip game.After a spicy south-Asian lunch, we split into four rafts and meandered in through Kensington and Sunnyside, cheerful and accommodating neighbourhoods. After knocking on friendly Calgarians' doors, our students started with a simple message:"Hi we're students from Wynchemna Language Learning Centre, here, from around the world, to learn English in Calgary. We are playing the Paper Clip game, and would like to see if you would like to trade with us."Very polite, though we Loons spoke with smiles, when the trade negotiations began, some had quite an edge. We Loons know what we want! We came back with both a space heater and a cool fan; a plush dog; a glass candy dispenser; beautiful screen prints, and, most importantly, wonderful memories with warm and welcoming Calgarians.In the evening, we discussed our day's trading, and got ready for tomorrow, when we Loons will go shopping.[AFG_gallery id='657']
