Soaring Horned Owls - July 29th - Lessons, Badminton, and Swimming!
Today was jam packed full of fun!We started our day eating a delicious breakfast with our breakfast groups before heading off for our first English lesson at Wynchemna. We were a bit timid about starting lessons but to our surprise they were interactive, fun lessons that we learned and laughed a lot in.After our lesson, we packed our bags and headed down to the bus to go to the Southland Leisure Centre to play basketball and badminton. We put our game faces on and battled it out against our classmates in both sports. Today we were joined by another camp which allowed us to make tons of new friends from different countries. Five more students joined us today too who will be coming to our camp, we are so excited for them to join us!We took a break from sports and had a delicious Canadian Picnic in the shade on this sunny day. Our lunch consisted of Tim Hortons sandwiches and wraps, juice, bananas, and our new favourite treat- Timbits! Today we learned that Timbits are the middle of the donut, and taking them out is how the hole is made. Our afternoon started with heading to the wave pool! The wave pool was huge and had multiple waterslides, diving boards and a hot tub. The waves turned on every 30 minutes and we bobbed up and down swimming through them. After the wave pool we headed back to our residence for our second lesson! We played charades and pictionary, learning new vocabulary words and winning points for our team by guessing what word was being described.Tonight we had supper at a Canadian restaurant called Swiss Chalet. It is famous for its Rotisserie Chicken and we understand why- it was so delicious! We had dinner with our friends from the other camp and parted ways when we got back to our residence. Once back we got into our groups and started writing a script for our movie we are creating - we worked together to make up a creative storyline and write speaking lines for everyone. We can't wait to start to practice putting it altogether.[AFG_gallery id='815']
