The day started off peaceful for some, as everyone got to sleep in after the long day of Stampede yesterday. However, for others, the morning was full of tense anticipation punctuated with cheers and shouts, this group of soccer lovers (football for you Europeans) got to watch France face off against Croatia in the world cup finals in our Theatre room. After breakfast we jumped on the bus and headed to Southland Leisure Centre for badminton, skating, and swimming. During the skating, despite a mix of skill levels everyone went together hand-in-hand and helped each other have a real ice time. This was the first time that many students (and some of the teachers) skated, and by the end of skating, most students were pros! Leaving the ice we warmed up with some badminton and basketball until we got to have quite possibly the best lunch possible in Canada. After skating and badminton, the students had a delicious Tim Hortons lunch with wraps, veggies, donuts, and juice. Tim Hortons is a Canadian classic offering both variety and value on a scale that makes most other food establishments look like MacDonald’s. A favorite for the students was the Timbit which is essentially a donut hole offered in an assortment of delicious flavors like chocolate, birthday cake, and sour cream glazed.Following lunch, the students went inside to the wave pool for swimming. They went on the waterslides, floated around the waves on inflatable rings, as well as jumped off a giant swinging ball. The students then came back for another lesson, before going out to Swiss Chalet for a tasty chicken, mashed potato, and salad dinner and finally capped off the day with another fun lesson instructed by our expert staff.[AFG_gallery id='773']
