Teacher Orientation - Thursday, June 16, 2016

To start the morning, the teachers got a taste of what the students experience by writing a French placement exam. Despite our poor French skills, we got through to the end with laughter and smiles… a few quarters were sacrificed along the way.After a delicious SAIT lunch, we packed up our belongings and headed to the Calgary Canoe Club! Following an impromptu game of basketball, we had an awesome kayaking lesson. It was a bit cold and windy on the water, but it will warm up quickly. We are looking forward to beautiful, sunny weather this summer!Next, we walked over to a big field with a beautiful view of the mountains. We got out the baseball equipment and had a fun game, the ‘Sorry Blues’ against the ‘Incrediballs.’ It was a close match but the ‘Incrediballs’ pulled through and won. Go team!On the way home we stopped by the Northeast mall for a quick dinner in the cafeteria. To end the evening, we had ‘Casino Night.’ It consisted of bingo, blackjack, poker, foosball and an auction with some amazing prizes to win!Even though we teachers have only been together for three days, we’re already getting close and the atmosphere is light and friendly.
