Ultimate Frisbee, Football and fun with new Friends
Today was an exciting day! We had newly arrived students from Mexico and Taiwan bringing our total number of campers to 59! We started our day with a big breakfast to get us prepped for the long day ahead and then went onto lessons while the our new students took their English placement exam. Students loved Maggie’s running dictation class and Olivia’s Guess Who lesson. Following lessons, everyone finally met each other over some lamb, salmon, and pizza. It was great to see campers mixing with the new students and sharing stories. With stomaches full, we engaged in an intriguing game of bingo in order to a glimpse of the remarkable lives of each student.
With everyone getting to know each other a bit better, we headed off to play American football and ultimate frisbee. Teacher Amos led running drills while students challenged themselves to stay in formation. Many touchdowns were scored! Students ran routes and made amazing catches, while going head to head in a fierce battle. On the other side of the field we had a fast paced game of ultimate frisbee. Students worked in teams and threw vicious throws as discs spun and cut through the air while campers jumped up and down trying to intercept throws. With two exhilarating physical activities, our appetite lead us back to campus where a culinary delight of butter chicken and cheese cake awaited us. After a long day of sports and new camaraderie we ended our night brainstorming dishes for international supper on Sunday.
