Journey Across Cultures through Supper and Karaoke!

The sun was beaming bright and hot as we gathered at NorthHill Mall for the much-anticipated Stampede free breakfast. The annual Stampede breakfast is more than just a meal; it's a tradition that brings people together. This year, it felt particularly special as it marked the first time many of us from Wynchemna were experiencing it together. The volunteers, in their cowboy hats and boots, served us with warm smiles and delicious pancakes and sausages.

With our bellies full and spirits high, we made our way back to the campus for our English lessons. We presented our infomercial ideas, shared our thoughts about the breakfast and discussed some of the food that may be found at the stampede tomorrow!

Post-lessons, it was time to switch gears and prepare for the International Supper Night. Students from various countries were buzzing with excitement as we headed to the local grocery stores to shop for ingredients.

The diversity in our group was reflected in the variety of ingredients we gathered - from exotic spices and unique vegetables to different types of meat and rice. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about each other's culinary traditions and to see the unique ingredients that make up our favourite dishes from home.

After returning back to the campus, the kitchens were transformed into bustling hubs of culinary creativity and teamwork. With dishes from different parts of the world such as Potato Salad from Germany, Chilaquiles from Mexico, Crepes from France, Gazpacho from Spain, and Steamed Pork Rice and Hot Pot from Taiwan, the air was thick with the rich aromas of different cuisines being prepared. We chopped, sautéed, and stirred, working together in a harmonious blend of cultures and flavours. There was an electric energy as everyone poured their hearts into creating something special to share with the group. When the dishes were finally ready, we gathered together to taste each tasty creation!

As the night progressed and our appetites were satisfied, we shifted from food to fun with karaoke. The room was filled with laughter and applause as each person took their turn with microphone. Singing and dancing to songs such as the YMCA, Love Story, Pompeii and many more! The karaoke session was the perfect ending to a fun filled day of activities and bonding time with students from other countries.

We can’t wait for the stampede tomorrow!
