Road Tripping through British Columbia
Early Monday morning, we packed our bags and left in our big yellow bus for the roadtrip of a lifetime! Our first stop was Golden, BC, where we went white water rafting down the legendary Kicking Horse River. What a wet, wild rush in perfect weather, no less! After we dried off and had a delicious spread of homemade sandwiches, macaroni salad, and veggies with dip, we set off again for Peachland where we spent two night camping next to the spectacular Lake Okanagan.
The next day we awoke to our instructors Addy and Phil making us blueberry pancakes! Yum! But the best was yet to come. After breakfast, we rented a boat and went tubing all afternoon on the lake! To end the day, we had a delicious meal of Butter Chicken and reminisced on how much fun we'd had and the road trip had just begun.
We woke up early Wednesday morning to pack up camp and were on the road again by 9:00AM. We were on our way to Whistler! Though it was going to be a long day of driving, we could barely contain our excitement. Our instructor, Phil, lived in Whistler for five years and told us stories about what it was like to grow up there on the bus ride! We also stopped midway through our drive to get milkshakes and icecream at D Dutchmen Dairy where they make the best chocolate milk in BC! We arrived in Whistler late and we were exhausted from the long drive so we decided to just have a quick meal and hit the sack early because tomorrow is going to be a jam-packed day of fun!
Today we made omelettes for breakfast with toast and pancakes. We have a big day ahead of us! After breakfast, we headed up Blackcomb mountain to view the spectacular Coast Mountains and village below on the Peak to Peak Gondola. After a delicious lunch on the mountain, we spent the afternoon zip lining! One line was almost a kilometer long and we reached a speed of almost 80 km per hour! After zip lining we went for a celebratory dinner at Garabaldi Lift Co and then finished the night off with a swim in the pool and a dip in the hot tub. Tomorrow, we leave for Vancouver and we can't wait!
