Sailing and Sunsets

This morning started with a beautiful sunrise above the city. The students woke out of bed with stars in their eyes. We ate pancakes, bacon, sausage, and fresh fruit from the cafeteria. Next we got ready very quickly for a day of sailing. We went to the Jericho sailing club and had our lesson with teacher Samantha. She taught us all the different parts of the boat and how to sail properly. Then we had a tutorial in the water with an actual sailboat on how to properly sail. We sailed on the beautiful waters for 2 1/2 hours. Then we got to practice capsizing. Students pulled the mast down into the water and then had to jump back into their boats. It was a lot of fun. After got takeout from an Indian restaurant for lunch, students could choose from a variety of curry dishes. We made our way back to UBC campus. Students had three hours of lessons which included working on their Wynchemna TV projects. Students worked in groups to practice their scripts and begin filming their segments of the TV show. Finally, we ended the day back at the beach by having a Canadian barbecue. We had hamburgers, hotdogs and salads. Students played volleyball, badminton, smash ball and went swimming. Everybody was excited to see the beautiful sunset with the shades of pink, orange, red and yellow. What a great day in Vancouver.
