The Day of the Paper Clip!

We started this Saturday with a hearty breakfast consisting of bacon, waffles, eggs, and more! Students woke up to a couple new peers and conversations were lively as food was eaten. Following an exciting start, we divided into two different groups so our new friends can be registered while others were completing a mural. We continued outside as we played human bingo to introduce and converse over accomplishments and home life. We continued our journey to North Hill Center and consumed pizza, salads, and chicken. Students continued to engage in great comrodary and are jelling really well.

Once full, we took on the incredible task of the Paper Clip Game. It’s an activity where students are encouraged to engage with locals and trade for items of greater value. It lead to some awesome interactions and some great loot like art, coins, and a nice picture of a penguin. Students took pride with their treasures and built confidence in their conversation skills. Overall, students were impressed with how kind and interactive residences were. After some successful trades, we went to Safeway and purchased groceries to make supper. Some groups made pasta, some made pizza casadillas. We concluded with some introductory lessons like the astronaut game, dream house, and making small books about ourselves. Today was filled to the brim with great conversations, and we can’t wait to see what next adventure awaits!
