The Great Calgary Race
We kicked off the day with some stellar lessons. Hanuh’s paper airplane lesson was pretty fly and soared through the sky. Teacher Calvin began a playwriting lesson involving a hero’s journey within Wynchemna. After splitting into our designated crews, the kids turned on their jet engine’s and raced down the hill to low altitude. The kids spread their wings as they traveled from landmark to landmark. At each destination, students came up with creative poses, gusto, and flair. We jetted west and east as we aired across downtown Calgary. We started to climb altitude crossing through the plus 15’s. We passed over in the Devonian Gardens, Chinatown, and Olympic Plaza. Students took off towards the Calgary Tower where we crashed the gift shop and splurged out on souvenirs and maple syrup biscuits. As teams completed their checklist of actions and locations, it became a tight race towards the final destination of Radjoot buffet. The Chaotic Calvins were first to arrive and enjoyed a well deserved rest as they cheered, hollered, and waited for the next squad to arrive. The Zesty Zeff’s came in second with a swift entrance. After a turbulence filled trip, the Holy Hanuhs’s safely landed with a third place position. Finally, after a long delay and multiple layovers, the Terrible Tiger’s were finally cleared for lift off and flew in for the last place position. Wynchemna students refuelled for their long trip back to their dorms as another night wrapped up in the YYC.
