The students started the day with their new breakfast conversation groups, in which we ate a delicious meal while meeting our newcomers from around the world. Then they proceeded to take their placement test, for us to ascertain their level of comfort with English. Of course, once they were finished, we were sure to play some fun games with the students to get them moving and speaking English!Afterward, we set off on our big adventure! First stop: Swiss Chalet, for a yummy pasta lunch! Naturally, us teachers ensured that the new students mixed with the old, making many new friends from different countries. Then it was back to the bus with lots of songs, games, and conversation, en route to Horseshoe Canyon! We snapped some group photos with the phenomenal view of the dramatic landscape as our backdrop, then dove right into our hike through the "Badlands." We got to see prairie dogs, cacti, several inukshuks, and the strangely beautiful buttes as we explored the Canyon. Some students and teachers even mounted one of the mesas, allowing for some great pictures, vistas, and feelings of accomplishment. Our next stop was Drumheller, the home of the world's biggest dinosaur and lots of other cute dino-memorabilia. We re-energized by taking a dip in the local Aquaplex - water slides and rope swings included! - followed by a delicious BBQ and field games in the sun.The final activity in our jam-packed day was a visit to the Royal Tyrell Museum, which boasts countless dinosaur fossils, exhibits, and fun facts about Prehistoric Life. We got to see exciting T-Rex skeletons and learn lots while in one of the world's most famous archeological regions.Satisfied after a very full day, we returned to Calgary! Yay![AFG_gallery id='245']
