Growling Grizzlies - July 9 2015 - Good Food Good Company
The Stampede wasn’t over yet. This morning we jumped out of bed and got in line for our Stampede Breakfast! It was a hearty meal of pancake flapjacks with butter and syrup and a round of sausage. We all agreed that it was simply lip-smackingly delicious! While we ate we had a great opportunity to chat up some strangers. The night before we had studiously prepared a handful of questions to ask our friendly neighbourhood Calgarians. Of course the Calgarians were happy to talk with our students seeing that they were from all different parts of the world! We found out what their favourite thing was about Canada, if all Canadians loved big trucks, some food that was unique to Canada and much more! When we headed back for lessons, we were full of Canadian culture and knowledge! Our lessons were great as always and we learnt English in a super fun way with lots of discussion. Then we were headed to our favourite grocery to stock up ingredients for tonight’s international supper. Back in our rooms we got busy cooking up a storm in our rooms! We had Mexican, French/Swiss, Taiwanese/Chinese, Japanese, Italian and Czech chefs, sous chefs and teams. The weather was just perfect outside so we set out our food buffet style and dug in! There was pasta with shrimp and bruschetta, German meatloaf, beef tacos, chips and guacamole dip, Japanese curry rice, banana and strawberry crepes. It was a FEAST for sure! We all had an amazing time cooking and eating together. It was awesome to get to try food from other cultures, and homemade too!Suddenly some of the students were feeling strange. They just had the urge to dance and sing. Luckily, the teachers had the perfect cure: Karaoke!!! We picked out favourite songs and belted them out. We even had the teachers embarrass themselves singing in front of all the students! It was a wonderful day, with a good dose of Canadian culture, international cultures and food and a fun time singing and dancing together to cap it all off! Good night![AFG_gallery id='259']
