Lessons, Canoeing, and Rock Climbing!
Another great day here at Wynchemna! The students had their first English lessons where they learned about each other’s countries, discussed types of bears in Canada, and acted out some skits that they made about classroom expectations. Students exceeded their teacher’s expectations, asking questions about other countries and engaging in content about Canada, Taiwan, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, and Mexico. With lessons over, we went out for a nutritious lunch at the SAIT cafeteria where many students tried squash, beef curry or chicken, and rice.
Next, we had an afternoon full of thrills while paddling on canoes with partners and climbing up rock walls. Students problem solved while canoeing to figure out the best way to paddle together and they admired the geese and goslings in the water. Every student tried rock climbing, even if they were nervous, while other students cheered them on. Some students even scaled the wall in 10 seconds!
Even though students got rained in after their activities, they chatted and laughed with each other while playing with the hail or amusing themselves with card games. Finally, we ended off the day by grabbing dinner at the University of Calgary cafeteria where students had Vietnamese food from Noodle & Grill. Even though we were tired, there was lots of laughter and discussion from everyone.
